The feature is hidden in the Labs for some reason, but if you enable “Swipe for split screen”, you can very easily switch the bottom app without needing to use Edge Panels. Just swipe from the bottom with two fingers.

Samsung quick switching

You’ve previously been able to get around the split screen annoyance with Edge Panel, but I didn’t like having the button getting in the way and it looked ugly. I had a Bixby Routine widget to turn on and off Edge Panels whenever I needed it, but I just don’t like Edge Panels lol.

Hopefully this will help you out. I use spit screen very often and this makes things a million times easier for me.
